Can’t tell you how much fun I had shooting Shannon & Dan on this Charlotte engagement. As a Charlotte wedding photographer, it’s important for me to know all of the cool places to shoot around the city. We started this shoot out at their home to get some pictures of them with their cat. Got a lot of fun cuddle shots on the couch with and without their kitten. We also got some pictures of them outside of their house. Once we finished here, we took off to the French Quarter downtown Charlotte.
When we got downtown we shot some pictures around Romare Bearden Park and then went to their favorite bar for some drinks, The Cotton Room. This bar was really cool and is fairly hidden from the naked eye. Its upstairs above another bar in a small nook. Once we got those pictures we stepped outside and got some more candid shots in the French Quarter. After this, we took off to a bridge where Dan asked Shannon to marry him.
Where he proposed
When we got to the bridge, we were in the middle of golden hour, so we got some amazing colors for these pictures. I used a flash on one shot to light my couple with the skyline showing in the background. I then used a copper pipe to get a cool gold ring around my couple, framing them perfectly with the city in the background. That technique is called the ring of fire. That shot is one of my favorite Charlotte engagement pictures. My last shot there was a fun silhouette shot of my couple.
