What an amazing time I had with Ashleigh and Craig at the Loray Mill Event Hall in Gastonia North Carolina. I’ve shot a wedding at Loray Mill as well as this engagement and I have to tell you, its easily my favorite venue around Charlotte these days. The architecture is just so amazing and lends itself perfectly for great photos. This engagement shoot at Loray Mill started high up in the tower and then we worked out way down the levels. Theres a stairwell at Loray Mill that has landings with beautiful brick walls and wood flooring that really look fantastic. I put the couple next to the big windows and got some fun contrasted light pictures. We then went to the very top of the stairwell where they had a really cool American Flag piece of art on the wall that served as a great backdrop for some wide angle shots. Up there I got them kissing and dancing which shows the passion in the pictures.
While at the top of the stairwell and all throughout our shoot I would periodically use MAGMOD products with my flashes to help me control light. I found that using these tools I was able to turn this engagement shoot at Loray Mill into a fabulous one. Theres many pictures below where you can see that I introduced some flash to take the creative shots up a notch.
After we spend time in the tower we went to the basement of Loray Mill where they have some really cool features. In the last shot you can see they have a rustic metal door that looked really cool. Sometimes I shoot a bit of flash in-between a couple kissing and it has a really cool effect.
