To start this post out, let me explain what my weekends are like. My wife works 3rd shift at the ER on the weekends….which meeeannnsss, daddy turns into Mr. Mom from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Now ladies before you begin throwing flower bouquets at me, screaming “bravo, bravo, what a man, bravo,” you must know, this is against my will! It’s not like I was the bravest husband on the planet and volunteered to be terrorized by a 4 yr old and a 6 yr old every single weekend of my adult life, this is just how it boiled down. That being said, I don’t mind it, in fact I love it. Sometimes it can be a pain, but I enjoy knowing that my kids love the 1 on 1 time their daddy spends with them. Our weekends are the best, they consist of movies, video games, hikes, and treats for breakfast, which is where Suarez Bakery comes into to play. Today we decided to make the trip into the city from Waxhaw to snag some cookies. We weren’t ready for all the awesome choices though!
There were so many designs on their sugar cookies, it was hard to narrow it down. In the end the kids picked the ones above……and also a dinosaur but he didn’t survive the car ride back to Waxhaw. I was blown away by the designs, they had some really cool North Carolina state outline cookies that caught my eye. Next time I go, I’ll bring my camera to capture everything they had going on in there. Not only are they killing it in the customs designed cookie game, but they also knock it out with their cakes, doughnuts, pastries, breads, pies, and King Cakes. They do it all! They set a high standard for themselves it appears. Everything was baked and designed to perfection. Everything they bake is the perfect combination of art and deliciousness.
But back to my kids. The cookies looked so good, it took them a while to dive in, they enjoyed looking at them for the first 20 minutes back home. The kids kept requesting that I take pictures of them holding the cookies together. My son, bless his heart, chose the heart “XOXO” cookie, but decided to present it to his sister for an early Valentines gift. He’s clearly a ladies man just like his daddy. The cookies were a blast, and once the whole family started in on them, they didn’t last long, but they’ve certainly left an impression that will stay with us for a while.
We will definitely be heading back to Suarez Bakery soon. The next time we go we’re attacking their doughnuts. They’re located in Charlotte off of Park Road, in the Park Road Shopping Center. I suggest you head on down there and snag some treats. Theres plenty of shops surrounding the bakery to peak your interest while you’re there. I’ll end this post with a few more pictures of the kids. I enjoyed taking these last shots, because I loved seeing the facial expressions they made as they ate the cookies. Until the next post, cheers gang!
